He is an actor and a musician, who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Timo Cruz, one of the lead characters in the biographical sport movie “Coach Carter” in 2005, written by Mark Schwahn and John Gatins, directed by Thomas Carter, and which starred Samuel L. The movie follows coach Ken Karter who stops his high school basketball team from competing in their league after they break the academic contract they signed with him – the movie won three awards and was nominated for 15 others.

Rick was raised as an only child in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City, by his Puerto Rican father who was a taxi driver, and his Dominican mother who was a cleaning lady – Rick’s parents divorced when he was 13 years old, but the family still remained somewhat close.
Rick started watching movies and TV series at the age of six, and would often perform at home for his parents, who then encouraged him to join his elementary school’s drama club. Rick then appeared in most of the plays performed at his school, and after being encouraged by his teachers, enrolled at the High School of the Performing Arts and successfully matriculated in 1997 – Rick then focused on working on his way up in the film industry, rather than pursuing a college degree.

Love life, relationships and daughter
Rick met his future other half Sherry Aon sometime in the 2000s; their first date didn’t go that well as Sherry was full of attitude, however, Rick seemed to like her nature and after their second date, they started a relationship and have been together since. They married in a private ceremony attended by their closest friends and family in the 2010s, but have kept the date of their wedding a secret. Rick has revealed in one of his interviews that both dating and being married to Sherry hasn’t been that easy, as they often argue, but that he still loves her.
On 26 July 2013, Sherry gave birth to their daughter Skyler, and Rick has stated how he likes being a father.
He hasn’t talked about any other women he might have been with before meeting Sherry, and as of September 2020, Rick is a married man (his first marriage) and has one daughter.

He likes to play billiard with his friends, ride a horse in nature, and go hiking up the mountains. Rick is a huge fan of basketball, and paid his respects to Kobe Bryant after he died in a helicopter crash.
He is keen on travelling, and his career as an actor has made it possible for him to travel all around the USA while he and his wife have vacationed in Europe on multiple occasions, staying in countries such as France, England and Spain.
Rick has his own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Denzel Washington, the late Chadwick Boseman and Emma Watson, and some of his favorite movies are “The Equalizer”, “Black Panther” and the franchise “Harry Potter”.
